Before We Were Us That We Are Now
Participants share stories from their memories, and EmberArts curates and produces a retelling for the participants' community/organization. The culminating event can be performed by participants, or the EmberArts team or a mix of both.
Before We Were Us That We Are Now
EmberArts created two reminiscence theatre projects for the community at Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Both projects involved interviews with dozens of members of the congregation, a community that spans almost a century. After the storytelling portion of the process, our team created a script based on the interviews.
Before We Were Us That We Are Now was performed live by the EmberArts team for the members of Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church and told some of the history of this vibrant community, including stories of their pastors, choir leaders, founding members and their storied traditions.
